Jurgen Klopp is confident Liverpool will not rest on their laurels

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed his side will be without first choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker for at least "a couple of weeks" following a calf injury picked up against Norwich. "It's a calf injury which takes him obviously out for a while", he told Liverpool's official website.

Liverpool kicked off their season with a convincing 4-1 win over Norwich City, but there was one particular issue that will be a worry as their number 1 goalkeeper Alisson was injured in the game and had to be replaced by new signing Adrian.

Lonergan, who is due to turn 36 years old in October, started his career at Preston North End and has since had spells with Darlington, Blackpool, Wycombe Wanderers, Swindon Town, Leeds United, Bolton Wanderers, Fulham, Wolves, Middlesbrough and Rochdale.

However, Kelleher is working his way back to full match fitness after recovering from a wrist fracture and Klopp has indicated he will hand a short-term deal to Andy Lonergan.

And Klopp has indicated that Lonergan will be among the Liverpool substitutes at Besiktas Park.

Brazil global Alisson was replaced by summer signing Adrian six minutes before the break in the Norwich game with his side already leading 3-0.

Klopp went on to admit the injury to Alisson was a blow to his side's hopes, in a month when they will face crucial Premier League game against Southampton, Arsenal and Burnley, as well as the game against Chelsea in Turkey this week.

'So that's a very experienced solution but in the moment when Caoimhin is back then obviously Adrian is No.1, Caoimhin probably No.2 but we have to see how then he can have some games with the U23s or U21s [so] that he gets match practice as well'.

"I think so", he said.

'We have to see how that works but that's then how we cover that situation'.

"We will be able to make good connections with him and I think a lot of the lads have made bonds with him already because he's such a good lad off the pitch".
