Report Kevin Smith to Showrun Netflix Masters of the Universe Revelation Series John F. Trent

The official Masters of the Universe Twitter account has confirmed some details and shared a first image.

While Masters of the Universe was an animated series created to sell toys, fans of the franchise love it and want to see more and more they shall get. Superstar director Kevin Smith continues the original series' story right where it left off in Masters of the Universe: "Revelation, a new series telling the epic tale of what may be He-Man and Skeletor's final battle", Netflix tweeted on Sunday.

"Revelation is a direct sequel series to the classic era of Masters of the Universe", reads the synopsis snapped by WWE's Craig Tello at Power-Con.

Kevin Smith is onboard as executive producer and showrunner of Masters of the Universe: Revelation.

Mattel Television is producing alongside executive producer Rob David, the vice president of Mattel TV and author of He-Man: The Eternity War.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation will be an "anime" continuation of the '80s show and pledges to wrap up numerous original show's loose ends. Paired with the Sword of Power, protagonist Prince Adam transformed into He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. The limited series will be written by Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (Reign of the Supermen), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering) and Marc Bernardin (Alphas) as writers. Powerhouse Animation, the studio behind Netflix's Castlevania series will be doing the animation.

He also said that the series just might have "the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor". The live-action film will see To All the Boys I've Loved Before star Noah Centineo take on the role of He-Man.

No release date was revealed at the time of the announcement.
