Straight from Hall D23 at D23 Expo 2019, Walt Disney Pictures has released the first look photo of Cruella star Emma Stone as Cruella De Vil! Today, at their D23 panel, we got our first look at Stone as the 1970s "Punk Rock" iteration of Ms.de Vil herself and it is utterly awesome. She is holding onto (gulp!) three leashes attached to three Dalmatians.

The Cruella De Vil movie will explore the villainess who originated in Dodie Smith's 1956 book, "The Hundred and One Dalmatians".

Sadly Emma was unable to attend D23 as she was busy on set filming but in a pre-recorded video message, she revealed that Cruella will be a "punk rock" live-action flick, taking place in 1970s London. The 1996 live-action 101 Dalmations (which now seems rather prescient given Disney's strategy of adapting all its animated classics into live-action) featured Glenn Close as the murderous fur-loving villain, and she was widely considered to have done excellent work in the role.

During the Disney showcase, we were teased with our very first look at Emma Stone as the dog hating, fur wearing Cruella. In the background are two men, her henchmen Jasper and Horace (Game of Thrones' Joel Fry and Cobra Kai's Paul Walter Hauser), and a non-Dalmatian puppy is also spotted perched on the back of a Vespa.

Cruella is set to hit theaters on May 28, 2021.
