Ronaldo scores four as Portugal thrashes Lithuania

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo took his global goals tally to 93 when he scored four times to give the European champions a 5-1 win away to Lithuania in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Tuesday. These four goals took his tally to 25 goals, leaving behind Keane's record of 23 goals in the Euro qualifiers.

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor became the all-time leading scorer in European Championship qualifiers after improving his tally to 25 goals, surpassing Robbie Keane in the process.

The four goals also took Ronaldo's tally with Portugal to eight in 2019, with two more global breaks upon us in October and November.

He is already nominated for the final three of FIFA's The Best award, but has insisted that he isn't thinking about such prizes right now.

"As I always say, I don't live thinking about individual prizes", Ronaldo said.

"That comes as a result of what is won collectively".

"I scored a goal against Serbia and four here and I'm very happy We have to dismiss this moment and what I want most is to continue like this".

The Juventus forward was on 20 goals before the ongoing global break but a goal against Serbia and four more against Lithuania sent him to 25 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 92 global goals after his latest display. "It suits me to continue helping the national team", Ronaldo said.
