Wendy’s relaunches breakfast plans to hire 20,000 in US

Breakfast, which is already in more than 300 locations, will roll out nationwide in the U.S.in 2020, the Dublin, Ohio-based company said in a statement Monday.

Wendy's announced its 2020 plans for a national breakfast expansion.

The Frosty-ccino: Cold-brew coffee mixed with either chocolate or vanilla Frosty cream.

"Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit" is a buttermilk biscuit with a fried chicken sandwiched in between with whipped honey butter.

The Breakfast Baconator fits a lot into a bun: an egg, six strips of Applewood smoked bacon, one square breakfast sausage patty, two slices of American cheese and a Swiss cheese Hollandaise sauce.

The morning remains the only growth market for the fast-food industry, according to research group NPD.

The upcoming menu addition also means Wendy's will add to its worker roster by hiring 20,000 crew members across the country.

"Launching breakfast in our US restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities", Wendy's President and CEO Todd Penegor said in a statement, adding that having Wendy's "fan favorites" on the breakfast menu will set it apart from the competition.

"Wendy's is Fast Food Done Right: your go-to for real, fresh, craveable food that doesn't cost a fortune and the new breakfast menu attests to that", a press release from the restaurant chain read.

"Launching breakfast in our US restaurants nationwide provides incredible growth opportunities", said Todd Penegor, President and CEO of The Wendy's Company. Wendy's now expects adjusted EBITDA to be in the range of flat to down 2% compared with the prior estimate of growth of roughly 2.5-4.5% year over year.

Wendy's has decided it can sit on the sidelines no more.

Wendy's shares fell as much as 8.9 per cent to US$20 in late trading after the announcement, before paring some of the loss.
