Yamamoto spoke three days after President Donald Trump abruptly halted U.S. -Taliban talks, citing an upsurge in attacks by the Islamic insurgent group.

A fourth plane crashed in Pennsylvania after passengers attempted to retake control of the aircraft.

That claim was backed up by sources CBS News contacted at Resolute Support, the USA -led North Atlantic Treaty Organisation mission in Afghanistan.

Speaking to Dana Perino on Wednesday, Theissen gave credit to ousted national security adviser John Bolton for his reported opposition to inviting the Taliban.
