His Dark Materials

We've seen some teasers and trailers for it, but we've been waiting for the official premiere date for His Dark Materials.

His Dark Materials will premiere on HBO on Monday, Nov. 4 at 9/8c and will be available on HBOGo, HBONow, HBO On Demand, and more as well.

Tranter adds, "We did have to take a very clear line and say we're adapting His Dark Materials, and if there's anything in The Book of Dust that suggests that - perhaps the origin story is a little bit different than how it is in the pages of His Dark Materials - we'll either go by that or we'll just adapt what's in His Dark Materials".

His Dark Materials, the TV adaptation of Philip Pullman's beloved series of books, has finally got a release date. The first book was previously adapted into a disappointing 2007 feature film directed by Chris Weitz and starring Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman. It'll premiere on BBC One the day before. One of those ways is in tapping the deeper mythology at play in Pullman's latest trilogy, The Book of Dust. Executive producing the series are Dan McCulloch, Jane Tranter, Joel Collins, and Julie Gardner produce for Bad Wolf.

The Book of Dust began with La Belle Sauvage, a prequel story published in 2017. If so, that presents some new and exciting details that even longtime His Dark Materials fans aren't familiar with.

Adapting Philip Pullman's award-winning trilogy of the same name, which is considered a modern masterpiece of imaginative fiction, the series follows Lyra (Dafne Keen), a seemingly ordinary but fearless young woman from another world. When her friend is kidnapped, her search for her friend leads her to uncover an elaborate plot to steal children.

Miranda stars as Lee Scoresby, with Wilson as Mrs. Coulter, and Dafne Keen (Logan) as Lyra, as well as James McAvoy (Atonement) as Lord Asriel, Clarke Peters (The Wire) as The Master of Jordan College, James Cosmo as Farder Coram, and Anne-Marie Duff as a Costa, with Will Keen as Father MacPhail and Ariyon Bakare as Lord Boreal.

His Dark Materials premieres on HBO on November 4 at 9 p.m. ET.
