Microsoft sending out invites for Surface event, and teases ‘one more thing’

Microsoft is teasing what it might announce at its 2 October event in NY. She also believes that we might see several new Surface devices, including a new Intel-based Surface Pro 2-in-1 with an improved processor and USB-C, an AMD Surface Laptop, and a new ARM-based Surface 2-in-1 device. The company has already given out a "Save the Date" invite for the same late last month, and now it is teasing out some more details about the upcoming event.

At the moment there are no hints about what we can expect to see at the event, but Microsoft has made a decision to live-stream it for the first time ever. Nadella was absent from the even past year which largely focused on mild hardware specification boosts. Microsoft's first invite - sent a few weeks ago - had 10/2 in silver shapes, as well. For reference, Nadella didn't attend last autumn's Surface event.

As he says, on 2 October, you just need to head to surface.com/microsoftevent to see what Microsoft has to reveal.

More interesting would be the long rumoured dual-screen Surface running Centaurus, but given the limited number of leaks, the odds of the appearance of these devices appear to be low.

ZDNet has claimed Microsoft plans to discuss new "experiences" for Surface hardware. It could also talk about Windows Lite - an upcoming variant of Windows that's created to power new hardware. But the main announcement with this new invite is the fact that the event will be live-streamed.
