Brunel's world-class research received particular praise, with the number and quality of "Citations" showing a marked year-on-year improvement.

Canada's lowest ranked shcool is the University of Lethbridge which comes in at 1001+ on the list.

Unfortunately, two Canadian schools actually fell out of the top 200 for this year's ranking.

Elsewhere in New Zealand, the University of Otago remained in the 201-250 bracket and the University of Canterbury stayed at 301-350.

Auckland University vice-chancellor Stuart McCutcheon said in a statement he is happy with the result that sees the institution come in ahead of all other New Zealand universities.
