Delta Airlines Plane Plunges Almost 30,000 ft in less than 7 minutes

Delta said the unanticipated descent was caused by "cabin pressurization irregularity en route".

DeWoskin, who snapped pictures of the mayhem, said he contacted his girlfriend and his family to let them know "some scary stuff" was going on aboard the plummeting plane.

A Delta Air Lines flight headed for Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was diverted on Wednesday due to a "cabin pressurization irregularity" that reportedly forced pilots to make a quick, controlled descent, Delta said.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, a Delta spokesperson told the Miami Herald that the plane landed without issue shortly after 5 p.m.in Tampa "out of an abundance of caution" but was not treated as an emergency.

A passenger onboard a Delta Air Lines flight to Atlanta in the USA has described the moment the plane plummeted 28,000 feet in the skies.

DeWoksin was flying to Fort Lauderdale to visit family.

Harris DeWoskin, one of the passengers on the plane, said the experience was terrifying.

Flight 2352 was cruising along, on its way to Florida, when the aircraft dramatically descended from an altitude of 39,000 feet to 10,000 feet in under seven minutes, WSB-TV reports.

In photos and video taken from inside the cabin, oxygen masks - which were manually deployed by the crew - could be seen hanging from the cabin's ceiling.

"In hindsight, we turned out all right", he said, adding that it was his "intuition" to let them know he loved them.

"There was a scary 60 to 90 seconds where we really didn't know what was going on".

A Delta Air Lines flight landed safely Wednesday after plunging nearly 30,000 feet in less than 8 minutes while over the west coast of Florida. "Told my mom I love her and hugged my son", Twitter user @BrutusOsceola wrote.

Delta said the plane landed safely without incident and customers deplaned normally, then were bussed to Fort Lauderdale sand arrived Wednesday night.

The aircraft is now being evaluated by maintenance technicians.

In order to reach Fort Lauderdale, some of the passengers, including DeWoskin, paid for flights with other airlines.
