Chris Wilder bans Sheffield United players from swapping shirts with Liverpool stars

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder made 10 changes for the Carabao Cup defeat to Sunderland and will recall the majority of those rested in midweek.

That's helped them get 15 Premier League wins in a row.

United were dumped out of the EFL Cup by Sunderland on Wednesday but Wilder is keen that his players do not shrink from the challenge of facing Liverpool, who boast a ideal record and a five-point lead in the Premier League after six matches.

Some of Wilder's squad are either from Liverpool or support the Reds, including John Lundstram and Jack O'Connell.

Having taken five points from their previous four league games, midfielder Dobson believes a win tonight against Chris Wilder's Premier League team could hand the Black Cats the confidence they need ahead of games against newly promoted duo MK Dons and Lincoln City.

"I don't want to look at this game with our players starry eyed and speaking to their players before and saying, 'Can I swap shirts?' and 'Any chance of signing this?'", Wilder added.

"We are playing them on a level playing field in the Premier League and we deserve to be here".

'Of course there's enormous gaps between the both clubs at the moment and we're trying to make that gap a little bit closer.

'I don't want Liverpool just to come into our backyard on Saturday afternoon and go: "Thanks very much that's as easy a three points as we've picked up all season"'.

Wilder has persisted with a back-three this season.

"They've caused better sides than us untold problems in terms of the way they move the ball around the pitch, the way they attack at pace and with quality".

"We've got to make sure we look at small ways that we can hurt them and that's what we're going to try to do and be competitive in our approach".
