‘Matrix 4’ Adds ‘Aquaman’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II

And while that he didn't divulge more information - other than the fact he was "absolutely" excited to reprise the role of The One for a new instalment in the Matrix franchise - the fact he's read the script should have fans excited. Lilly Wachowski, a co-director, co-writer and co-EP in the original franchise, is said not to be involved in the fourthquel.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been cast in an as-yet-unnamed lead role for Warner Bros.'s fourth The Matrix film, according to Variety. If Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are both reprising their roles in The Matrix 4, then why couldn't Fishburne return in his same role as well? Unfortunately, no one can be told what The Matrix 4 is; but hopefully, we'll be able to see it for ourselves in the near future. Michael B Jordan was previously linked to playing a Young Morpheus, though nothing was confirmed. However, it's unknown if Abdul-Mateen is up for that role or a different character in the film.

In addition to his breakout role as Manta in Warner Bros.' "Aquaman", Abdul-Mateen portrayed Lupita Nyong'o's character's father in Jordan Peele's hit "Us" and had a starring role in an episode of "Black Mirror".

Abdul-Mateen II recently joined the cast of Aaron Sorkin's "The Trial of the Chicago 7" as Black Panther activist Bobby Seale.

In addition to Wachowski, the script was also written by Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell.

Details about The Matrix 4 are being strongly kept under lock and key. While I'm extremely curious about The Matrix 4, I must say that not having both of the Wachowskis back behind the camera makes me a little cautious. Intriguingly, Lily Wachowski, who directed the first three movies with sister Lana, will not be returning to direct.
