Actor Paul Rudd opens up on Friday's The Graham Norton Show about the popular sitcom, which he appeared on from 2002 until the show's end in 2004, and how he nearly didn't get to keep his recurring role after accidentally hurting co-star Jennifer Aniston on set.

"'I was on the set for my first episode and Jennifer was on a Segway because she had broken her toe, and everyone was marvelling at it. Matt LeBlanc asked to have a go and immediately knew how to do it". I then asked to try it too.

He continued: "I spun round and rolled it right over Jennifer's foot!"

He said "The producers' look of panic was if to say, "Is it too late to fire him? I felt very bad. Such an inauspicious start". "Such an inauspicious start".

"It was an incredible thing to be part of and the whole experience, but seems a bit surreal and a bit of a blur in my memory", he said of his time on the show.

While Paul was only hired for a short stint on the show, he ended up sticking around a lot longer, and even appeared in the iconic last episode - although he admitted he felt like he was "not supposed to be there".

Rudd says that he went over to Aniston and joked, "Well, we did it, what a ride". We're sure the pair become good pals in the end! He thought to himself that he shouldn't be there, but he made a decision to try and break the ice.

Paul Rudd played Mike Hannigan, Phoebe Buffay's boyfriend and later husband, on "Friends". But, "the joke inevitably fell flat".

Paul was promoting his new Netflix series Living with Yourself on the BBC chat show, which sees him play both main characters.

He was joined on the sofa by Bruce Springsteen, Robert De Niro, Sienna Miller and James Blunt.

The Graham Norton Show airs on BBC America, and Friends is now streaming on Netflix.
