The 23-year-old Spanish worldwide joined Man City from boyhood club Atlético Madrid in the summer for a reported £62.8m making him the club's most expensive acquisition.

"Especially as later they will start thinking about the Champions League and lose their focus on the Premier League which obviously would be good for Liverpool".

- When does the transfer window reopen?

"I had never been in the city before, I don't know how people in the city feel".

"I didn't have this exact role in the team [at Atletico Madrid]".

"Sometimes situations happen but we are a team that always try to attack, to defend well, to try to play our game but never having to think about making actions like that". And for the team it's good because we need those offensive players to be able to play our game'.

Manchester City midfielder Rodri believes Liverpool are the best team in Europe and his side's biggest rivals.

Jurgen Klopp's side have begun the new season in impressive form, winning eight consecutive league fixtures to open up an eight-point advantage at the top of the Premier League.

Klopp's Reds won all three Premier League games they played last month, earning crucial but challenging victories over Newcastle, Chelsea and Sheffield United.

Pep Guardiola is aiming to win his third league title in a row with the Blues, but City have made their worst start to a league campaign since he took charge of the club in 2016. Speaking to ESPN FC, Rodri claimed: "The team to beat is Liverpool now and that has been seen the last two seasons.

We hope we can get important players [back from injury] and when they do, that will be good for the team".
