In 1992's Batman Returns, Michelle Pfeiffer became probably the definitive movie Catwoman opposite Michael Keaton's Batman. Among the list of rumoured actresses contending for the role was Zoë Kravitz. Since 2017, Kravitz has starred on HBO's Big Little Lies as Bonnie Carlson. She also has the Hulu series High Fidelity coming out later this year.

Then came the rumours that director Matt Reeves is looking for a POC actress to take up the role of Catwoman. Halle Berry played a new version of the character in her own solo film in 2004, and then Anne Hathaway portrayed a new interpretation of her in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. And though she may not have been most people's first choice for Selina Kyle, Kravitz is far from a bad pick.

The casting follows the recent news that Jeffrey Wright will be playing Commissioner Jim Gordon, with Jonah Hill in talks for a villain role, possibly Penguin or Riddler. Unfortunately, the studio has yet to make their casting official.

Twilight star Pattinson is following on from Ben Affleck as Batman.

This update on The Batman comes to us from Inside The Film Room, and shows how the highly anticipated movie is coming together ahead of production. "DC WB ohana Lola and Wolfies big sister is CAT WOMAN", he added, referencing his two kids with Lisa Bonet, Kravitz's mother.

Also, let's not forget that Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli gave us a black Selina in their Batman: Year One comic book, before subsequent creators changed her back to being white.
