BMW's 2 Series Gran Coupe sedan has leaked just a few hours ahead of the official launch on October 15. It manages slip by applying light braking to the inner wheels and works together with the standard xDrive all-wheel-drive system to improve grip.

Just like the latter, as well as its larger 8 Series Gran Coupe cousin for that matter, the 2 Series GC is a coupe-inspired four-door, and even has frameless windows to drive the message home, along with its low-slung stance and sloping rear window. Under the skin, BMW has provided the 2 GC with near-actuator wheel slip limitation (ARB) from the i3s which allows a controlled wheel sleep and a neutral steering feel.

The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is part of the control/operating concept. Armed with the hottest version of BMW's 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the M235i will employ 255kW of power and 450Nm of torque to race from zero to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. "The revised dynamic traction control system is now ten times quicker, BMW claims, with reduced latency courtesy of a new electronic design", added Nguyen.

As you probably know by now, the 2-Series Gran Coupe is offered in two flavors: 228i and M235i. The 228i xDrive Gran Coupe rushes from 0 to 60 miles per hour in six seconds and has a top speed of 130 miles per hour. The auto comes in both a 228hp 228i xDrive Gran Coupe and a 301hp M235i xDrive Gran Coupe. The diesel and M Sport models use the same eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Under the hood will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that will be offering about 228hp and 258lb ft of torque. When the optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional is selected, the analog instruments in front of the driver are replaced by a 10.25-inch display to form a wide, all-digital interface with the similarly sized centre touchscreen.

Driver assistance gadgets on the menu include Lane Departure Warning with active lane return as well as the BMW Driving Assistant package with Lane Change Warning, rear collision warning and crossing traffic warning. A set of 18 inchers are standard on the M235i. If you want something bigger, 19-inch wheels with performance tires are optional.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe we've been promised earlier this year is finally coming out of its secret hiding.

When the camouflage came off, we got mixed reactions on the styling of the new 2-Series Gran Coupe.
