Cowboy Bebop: Netflix Series Halts Production After John Cho Injured On Set

In awful news for fans of John Cho and classic anime, Netflix has reportedly suspended production of its live-action Cowboy Bebop reboot after the star sustained a freak knee injury while filming.

The publication's sources say it was a freak accident that occurred during a routine and well-rehearsed scene.

Because Cho will also need extensive rehabilitation after his surgery, production on the series has been shut down for seven to nine months, the outlet reports. Cho, 47, has been flown from the show's set in New Zealand to Los Angeles to undergo surgery.

In a bid to increase their anime coverage, Netflix had announced a never-been-done-before live action remake of Cowboy Bepop that was due to premiere on the streaming service this year. Deadline provides that Netflix determined to maintain Cho as an alternative of recasting, and can wait till late spring or early summer season to renew manufacturing so Cho can rehabilitate. - Bruce Lee. In an announcement to Deadline, a spokesperson for Netflix mentioned, "Our ideas are with John and he has our full assist as he recuperates from this damage".

The show follows Spiegel (Cho) and his partner Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and the crew of the spaceship Bebop, who eke out a living as interplanetary bounty hunters. The anime impressed Cowboy Bebop: The Film in 2001. The original Cowboy Bebop, an acclaimed Japanese anime series, began airing in the US on Adult Swim back in 2001 and introduced many American viewers to the world of anime.

Filming only started last week on Cowboy Bebop, which is a live-action adaptation of a 1990s Japanese anime series about bounty hunters in space.
