Breaking! Greg Hardy vs. Ben Sosoli fight officially ruled a no-contest

It's hard to know where to even beginning with this whole inhaler controversy that turned Greg Hardy's (4-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) unanimous decision win over Ben Sosoli (7-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) into a no contest.

As a result, after the UFC Boston event was over, it was announced that Hardy's victory has been overturned to a No Contest.

However, in between the second and third round, footage surfaced online of Hardy using an inhaler. Although Hardy is cleared to use the inhaler in training, he is not allowed to do so during the actual fight.

'I'm still (a) new guy in this sport.

"I was in the ring, me and my coach asked the commission if it would be ok to use my inhaler and they said yes, so I took it", Hardy said in a statement. "That's why I asked permission".

UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy is no stranger to controversy. Still, though, he should've had a better understanding of the moment, as there's a reason this has never happened to anyone else.

"I've got my own motivations", Sosoli said. In his promotional debut back in January, Hardy was disqualified for throwing an illegal knee in a fight with Allen Crowder. Going into Friday, all but one of his pro fights had ended in the first round.

Prior to the inhaler issue, Hardy showed a much more measured pace than his previous fights.

The entire thing was just freaky, and it's magnified by the fact it happened to Hardy, who is a lightning rod for controversy as it is.

But fighters should not take more than 1600 micrograms within a 24 hour period or 800 micrograms within a 12 hour period - although inhalers can not be used during a bout. It was a Din Thomas showcase, I have a lot of weapons and a gas tank to use those consistently over all three rounds. Hardy was convicted of domestic violence in 2014, before charges were expunged from his record.
