With prices starting at $189,900 it's dearer than the Vantage but costs less than the DB11.

Being an Aston Martin though, luxury and elegance is just as important as speed.

The Aston Martin DBX will be unveiled on November 20, with delivers expected to commence during the first half of next year. However, Aston Martin's priority is to give the DBX a genuine sporting character without penalizing comfort and luxury.

Of course, the rear seats also got some love. The design team wanted an inclusive feeling for those in the rear of the auto, but without the sense that the rear occupants were leaning over those in the front of the vehicle, which can sometimes be the result of so-called "stadium" seating arrangements.

Reportedly weighing 2245kg, the DBX sits on a long wheelbase that helped to free up room inside.

Aston Martin is counting on the DBX to spur demand in markets where wealthy individuals tend to favour more-rugged autos because of the poor quality of roads, such as China and Russian Federation. And it ain't cheap, but you knew that, because it's an Aston Martin. Aston Martin confirmed each button and dial were carefully positioned after a lengthy discussion with the brand's Female Advisory Board. According to the company, it's "an elegant, floating aesthetic that offers storage space below for larger items".

As you'd expect, there are screens to do the information stuff, plenty of legroom front and back, big glasshouse, "bridged" centre console and a panoramic roof.

The new Aston Martin DBX is riding on an all-new bespoke aluminum platform.

The DBX will feature a 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 producing 550 horsepower, with a top speed of over 180 miles per hour. With more power than a V8-equipped Vantage or DB11, the DBX remains a proper five-door sports auto, albeit in an SUV guise.

Combining the results of intensive customer research and Aston Martin's expertise in hand-crafted interiors, DBX has been designed inside out to ensure owners feel instantly at home from the moment they enter the spacious cabin. The brand's first-ever SUV will also have its global debut in China on the same date.
