Firefighters arrive at the scene after an explosion at the Teutschenthal mine near Halle Germany

Meanwhile, local media said it was believed that the number trapped could reach several dozen people.

More than 30 people have been rescued after being trapped underground by a mine explosion which injured two people in Germany today.

An explosion at a mine in japanese Germany on Friday injured two individuals at this time, and a few 35 needed to be rescued from secure and sound locations a whole bunch of meters underground. It evidently was triggered by an explosive mixture of gases.

Authorities said all work at the mine would stop until the cause had been clarified, however early signs pointed towards a hydrogen explosion or deflagration.

The local broadcaster MDR reported that firefighters had carried out a rescue operation, and shortly afterwards local police tweeted: "All personnel have been rescued".

The blast at the former potash mine this morning left workers stuck some 2,300 feet underground at the mine in Teutschenthal.
