Whoopi and Joy Get Script Flipped on Them by Donald Trump Jr

It might be American television's closest approximation of the "kitchen table" of stump-speech fame, where we sit, sip and squabble over politics.

"I literally quote tweeted an article that had the guy's name in the title of the article", Trump Jr. said. John McCain, questioned Trump Jr. about his father's lack of civility.

Don Junior and his girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle were the show's guests on Thursday, and got into many back-and forths with Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Abby Huntsman and Meghan McCain. Neither side was particularly successful.

Trump Jr. said it depended on the hat he was wearing and that life as a father has not been easy for him either.

The couple had appeared for the show's landmark 5,000th episode to promote Trump Jr.'s new book, "Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us". And since he had no other game plan than Operation Bellow & Gaslight, cross-talk was his answer when Huntsman asked Trump Jr. why he revealed the whistleblower's name in a tweet when it was unsafe to do so, or when Hostin confronted him with a readout of the extortionate phone call at the center of the impeachment inquiry.

The left-wing blog Jezebel did not appear to know how to handle Behar's confession, covering it in a piece titled "Hmm, Here Is Joy Behar Dressed as "a Beautiful African Woman" For Halloween". "You and your family have hurt a lot of people and put a lot of people through a lot of pain including the Khan family, who was a gold star family that I think should be respected for the loss of their son". She asked if the president might apologize.

"Like today, I was talking about how, you know, I think a moderate needs to win the election to beat [President Donald] Trump. I understand that he has offended a lot of people, but I understand that he took on the establishment, and that's the premiere sin in American politics these days". She has a good grasp in being able to speak to people.

Trump and Guilfoyle made a spirited defense of the Trump presidency, rejecting the moral equivalence of a Trump hotel operating in Washington, DC with Hunter Biden sitting on a board of a Ukrainian gas company while his father was vice-president. And the result is raw moments that are as authentic as they are viral.

It all began after a host of the show questioned the president's character and his habit of personal attacks against his critics, reports People Magazine.

"That exactly what that means", replied Gabbard.

"Can I say one thing really quick?" she interjected. So when you release a name like that, you have to know that-if you're talking about the white powder your family received, the same thing could happen to him.

Also this week, actress/environmental activist Jane Fonda spoke about her recent arrests during protests to spur action on global warming.

Trump Jr.: This is not the fight I wanted. "The booing is f-cking us up", THR says Goldberg said. This is part of being president.

"We've all done things that we regret", he said, defending his father's rhetoric.

"He's afraid of perjury, he's afraid of going to jail", co-host Joy Behar fired back.

Did "The View" get out of hand at times on Thursday? Most definitely. That's why "The View" is a morning show we're still checking in on, more than 20 years after its debut: Sometimes, when you disagree about politics with your nearest and dearest, you just have to have it out.
