Beshear, the state's attorney general, said he's confident in the election outcome, saying any review would show he won the hard-fought campaign. "We owe this to the people of Kentucky".

"Mr. Trump, I hope you can tell that Kentucky is Trump Country", said Cameron during a Trump rally on Monday. The Virginia campaign, for example, came in the midst of a major strike by autoworkers at Mack Volvo Trucks, while the Kentucky campaign came in the wake of a massive mobilization of public-school teachers, who came into direct conflict with the administration of Republican Governor Matt Bevin.

'The President just about dragged Gov. Matt Bevin across the finish line, helping him run stronger than expected in what turned into a very close race at the end, ' he said.

Bevin hinted that there might be "irregularities" to look into but didn't offer specifics.

"Won 5 out of 6 elections in Kentucky, including 5 great candidates that I spoke for and introduced last night". Kentucky's 120 counties will examine their voting machines and absentee ballots to be sure the votes were tallied correctly, but will not recheck every individual ballot.

According to Heye, the DE election results should "scare" Republicans in the sub-urb areas as it will impact President Trump's candidacy in 2020 elections. Beshear is the son of Kentucky's last Democratic governor, Steve Beshear.

Accusing the Secretary of State of fraud for announcing election results on CNN, Matt Bevin held firm on his accusation that voter irregularities were the reason for his loss on Tuesday night.

"The increase in Governors race was at least 15 points, and maybe 20!' he claimed". He exploited Bevin's feud with teachers over pensions and education issues, which resonated with voters.

Apart from anything else, the election results may dictate what happens next in the impeachment process. Trump's reelection campaign manager, Brad Parscale, tweeted that Beshear "didn't talk about impeachment or Trump, and (he) acts like a Republican".

But in Kentucky Trump might as well have been the person on the ballot. In Virginia, where Medicaid expansion passed a year ago, voters gave control of the legislature to Democrats, which could result in Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam withdrawing or freezing a pending request to impose work requirements on beneficiaries. But the successful candidates on Tuesday night were largely political moderates able to win over suburban voters in conservative areas. In 2018, the Trump administration gave the state the first federal waiver to allow work requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries, though legal challenges have prevented the new rules from taking effect.

"Democrats had a ton of money, yet the Republicans still did well", he said. One of those victories involved the election of Ghazala Hashmi who became the first Muslim woman elected to state Senate. Before the election, each chamber had one vacancy, and the Republicans had a 3-seat advantage in the House and a 2-seat advantage in the Senate. He said he infected his nine children with chickenpox rather than having them vaccinated.

He added that "the landscape has changed" for such legislation as gun control and criminal justice reform. Trump notably did not campaign in the state down the stretch, even as he sought to flex his political muscle in Kentucky and Mississippi. Nationally, President Donald Trump is pretty unpopular, but among these demographics that I just mentioned, he's incredibly popular, really beloved by many people.

"You have to show, in order to overturn an election, that you have the goods", he said on WHAS-AM.

Democrats have pledged that when they take power, they will pass an agenda that Republicans have blocked for years, including stricter gun laws, a higher minimum wage and ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, making Virginia the final state needed for possible passage of the gender equality measure. All three of the Democrats running for governor were running as 'Republican Lite.' But in the Democratic presidential primary, they're all running like socialists.
