Closing down sale at Mothercare in Peterborough

Mothercare in Aylesbury, located in the Vale Retail Park, are beginning a massive closing down sale today, Friday 8 November, with everything in store dramatically reduced, just in time for Christmas.

About 2,500 jobs are at risk after administrators were called in, with Mothercare slumping to a £36.9 million loss in the financial year to March.

Mothercare has announced it is holding a closing-down sale at all of its United Kingdom stores after the company went into administration.

The company announced it was closing on Monday.

In accordance to keep administration, inventory levels are higher as warehouses are cleared, so there is a lot of selection.

A spokesman for Mothercare Nottingham said: "This is a great chance for clients to choose up some incredible specials as nearly everything is minimized". Demand will be high so really do not hold out to grab a unbelievable offer, in particular if you are Christmas purchasing!

Mothercare has been a familiar face on British high streets since 1961 and a go-to for parents with its ranges of prams, pushchairs, baby and maternity clothes, nursery furniture and toys. "We'd also like to thank our consumers in the local space for their historic help of the Mothercare model".

The children's retailer appointed Zelf Hussain, David Robert Baxendale and Mark James Tobias Banfield of PwC as joint administrators of its United Kingdom division on Tuesday, November 5.

"Like many other retailers, Mothercare has been hit hard by increasing cost pressures and changes in consumer spending".

Customers are urged to spend gift cards as soon as possible - so dig out any you might have sat in your purse.

However, it is still holding discussions "to ensure that the group has an ongoing retail presence in the UK", the company said on Tuesday.

While the sale goes on, Mothercare's website will remain live and discounts will also be available online.
