Bloomberg prepares for 2020 presidential campaign, Warren, Sanders fire back

The 77-year-old billionaire with a $52 billion fortune, has recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the direction that the Democratic candidates are heading.

Bloomberg, who would likely run as a moderate, is entering the race as doubts about former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign emerge among more establishment and centrist factions in the Democratic Party.

According to a Vox report, Bezos called the fellow billionaire in February this year and asked him to consider entering the 2020 United States presidential race. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also supports.

"If you're looking for policy plans that will make a huge difference for working people and which are very popular, start here", the MA senator wrote in the tweet, linking her billionaire calculator, which she created seemingly as a jab to critics of the tax like Bill Gates and Leon Cooperman.

Warren responded by praising the question and confirming her Medicare for All plan would cover people who aren't legally in the country.

"One billionaire calls another billionaire and asks him to run for president - I'm shocked!"

"The wealthy and well connected are scared", the email said. "So they're doing whatever they can to try to stop Elizabeth and our movement from winning in 2020 and bringing big, structural change in 2021". Cooperman has been deeply critical of Warren's proposed wealth tax on the hyper-rich.

Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang thinks Michael Bloomberg's late entrance into the fight for the Democratic nomination will create challenges for the former New York City mayor, as he has missed several months of meeting people and participating in rallies.

"The billionaire class is scared and they should be scared", Sanders tweeted following reports that Bloomberg was contemplating a run.

Bloomberg filed paperwork to enter the Democratic primary in Alabama this week, a major indicator that he may enter the 2020 presidential race.

"Bloomberg told Bezos no at the time, according to a person briefed on the phone conversation", said the report.
