Sonic Mania designer helped create Sonic's new movie look

When Paramount revealed their big screen adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog in a spring trailer, the fan backlash was immediate.

Months after Twitter users collectively lost their cool over the original Sonic design, they're now rejoicing to celebrate the new one and at long last everyone seems genuinely excited for the movie. Video game and animation fans applauded Sonic's new look which is much more in line with how he appeared in video games and cartoons during the '90s. That's right, the artist who provided covers for IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog comics and helped out with the fantastic animated shorts for Sonic Mania helped make this CGI abomination adorable and he succeeded.

The film was originally slated to hit the cinemas on November 8, but was pushed back until February 14, 2020.

Paramount launched a brand-new poster for Sonic the Hedgehog featuring the character redesign. Check out the new trailer below, followed by the official synopsis and a side-by-side with the original trailer so you can appreciate just how epic the upgrade is. He is known for being able to run at extremely high speeds.

Giving a more thoughtful rework would give some fans something to be nostalgic about and a bad version would have resulted in viewers ignoring the actor's performance altogether and focus on the bad CGI. "This is a franchise and it has to be great".

To help spread more goodwill and celebrate the power of the people, Conan O'Brien had a redesigned and rebooted Sonic visit the late night show.

"He's (Fowler) a good man. There's a right way to listen".
