Kaep went to social media Tuesday to break the news to fans about the league reaching out to his team about an Atlanta workout.

All 32 teams will reportedly be sent video of Kaepernick's workout and interview session, but in advance of the event, several franchises are already making plans to check in on the ex-Niners standout.

Kaepernick became a polarizing figure during the 2016 season after he began protesting police brutality and racial injustice by taking a knee on the sideline during the pregame playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner". This weekend's workout represents the first action the league has taken to ensure that Kaepernick returns to the radar of its franchises. While every team is invited, it doesn't exactly mean they will show up.

He and Kaepernick then filed a collusion grievance against the NFL, alleging that the league and its 32 team owners - influenced by President Donald Trump's inflammatory remarks about kneeling players - colluded to prevent the pair's employment.

Reid signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2018.

Some didn't seem as excited about the report of Kaepernick's workout.

"At this point, I'll believe it when I see it".

Meanwhile, Eric Reid voiced his own concerns about the way the workout is set up, as The Athletic's Joe Person reported: "At this point it feels". Still, some fellow players have expressed dismay about Kaepernick remaining without a job in the National Football League and other observers have pointed to the quality of the quarterbacks signed by teams while maintaining that Kaepernick has been blackballed because of his protests. Such workouts generally take place at the practice facility of any team interested in signing that player. During that season, in which the 49ers were 2-14, Kaepernick threw 16 touchdowns and had four interceptions. He also ran for 468 yards and two more scores in 2016.

Smith also said that Kaepernick should leave politics out of sports.
