The Grizzlies released a statement on Saturday (30/11), mentioning that Morant's status is considered "week-to-week".

Morant first experienced back spasms in Memphis' game against the Indiana Pacers and re-aggravated that injury on Friday night. In 17 games, the young phenom is averaging 18.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists in 28.7 minutes per outing.

Morant didn't travel with the team for Sunday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Even though Morant has been putting some solid numbers, Memphis is still a rebuilding team, and it'll take time before they start being contenders in a loaded Western Conference.

With Morant out, Tyus Jones and shooting guard Dillon Brooks, and perhaps also De'Anthony Melton and Grayson Allen, will have increased responsibility. He's 20 years old, played college basketball at Murray State, and was drafted No. 2 overall this past June.
