Jets' 3-game win streak ends with self-destruction

After having brought in LeVeon Bell during the offseason on a four-year, $52.5 million deal, the two-time first-team All-Pro running back had grandiose expectations. Combined with their loss to the Dolphins, they're the first team to drop games to a pair of opponents that were 0-7 or worse in one season.

That was the headline after a 22-6 embarrassment against the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium.

The Bengals are not a better team than the Jets. The Bengals had four sacks - three by Carlos Dunlap - and earned a safety when the Jets were called for holding in the end zone midway through the third quarter.

The loss was historically significant for the Jets (4-8), who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Linebacker Neville Hewitt never turned to look for the ball on a deep throw to Tyler Boyd, bumping the receiver for a 39-yard pass interference that put the ball on the 5-yard line.

In just 2:41 shortly before halftime, the Bengals went 91 yards on eight plays to take a 14-point lead thanks to Joe Mixon's five-yard touchdown rush. NY lost to Miami, which was 0-7 at the time, on November 3.

After the game, Taylor said the feeling was indescribable. Darnold was 28-for-48 passing for 239 yards.

After three encouraging wins behind their young quarterback, the Jets found themselves back in a discouraging place.

Andy Dalton didn't suddenly reinvent himself as an above-average National Football League quarterback.

The Jets lost to the 0-7 Dolphins 26-18 on November 3.

Cincinnati's first points of the day late in the opening quarter were historic for Dalton as he became the Bengals' all-time leader in touchdown passes.

NY never got into a flow against a winless team.

Dalton said he felt the team enjoyed its best week of practice all season.
