Kia e-Niro: extra supply of upgraded EV for 2020

There is also a less powerful e-Niro with a 39.2kWh battery pack and a smaller 133bhp motor, but even the range-topping Kia e-Niro First Edition - complete with the big battery and motor - came in at a reasonable £32,995 when it arrived on sale this time previous year.

Kia will introduce a raft of upgrades to the e-Niro electric SUV for 2020 - and has promised a "major ramp-up" in supply of it and the new Soul EV. The long-range e-Niro has 280 miles of range and will set you back £34,495 after the Plug-in Car Grant is deducted from the price.

But such was the demand, and so limited the supply, that Kia sold the e-Niro out in quick sticks for 2019, but now they're promising things will be different in 2020.

The Korean firm says it has secured enough supply for the United Kingdom market to clear the existing waiting list in the first six months of 2020, "with even more supply promised" in the latter half of the year.

New for the EV is the standard inclusion of LED headlights, a battery heating system, ambient lighting, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a new telematics system. Deliveries of the Soul EV, which opened for orders this last July, are expected to start in April.

"Since launching e-Niro at the beginning of the year, we have received unprecedented demand which has been a challenge to fulfil", said Paul Philpott, president and CEO of Kia Motors UK.
