Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions will head to the Arena Birmingham in Birmingham, England for a WBO bantamweight championship bout pitting South African champion Zolani Tete against hard hitting Filipino challenger John Riel Casimero. Prior to the win over Tete, Casimero picked up knockout wins over Cesar Ramirez and Ricardo Espinoza.

Tete's 2019 has been anything but a good inside the ring.

It was the third world title for Casimero who previously held International Boxing Federation light flyweight and light flyweight crowns. Tete ultimately withdrew from his bout with Donaire and the tournament altogether after suffering a fight week injury, leaving Casimero as the interim titlist in waiting for a shot at the real thing.

It came about once Tete was fully healed, and of the knowledge that he would likely concede home field advantage.

John Riel Casimero is now officially the WBO bantamweight champion.

"I don't really think about fighting on the road", insists Casimero.

It was a landmark win for the Ormoc, Leyte-born Casimero, who captures his third world championship in as many weight divisions, joining the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Nonito Donaire Jr., and Donnie Nietes as the only Filipinos to win world titles in three weight divisions.

Casimero, who will be making his second appearance on British soil, trained for nearly two months in Las Vegas to get ready for Tete. "Give me Inoue! Come on Monster!" "It has always been my job to go wherever the fights are scheduled".
