2020 auction is set to be held on December 19.

Teams will now need to use their auction purse well.

Here we look at the same.

971 players have registered for the upcoming auction for the 2020 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the league said in a release on Monday. The mega-list of 971 players includes 215 capped players, 754 are uncapped players while two players are from associate nations.

19 capped Indians are in the fray. Also, there will be 60 uncapped local cricketers who have the experience of at least one IPL game.

Mitchell Starc has opted out of the IPL for the second consecutive season in order to focus on Test cricket.

Royal Challengers Bangalore's wicket-keeper batsman, Parthiv Patel had captained the former IPL franchise, Kochi Tuskers Kerala in its last ever IPL match.

Even in 2019, Starc opted out of the IPL 2019 auction as he was recovering from an injury and rested to give priority to Australia's World Cup campaign.

On the day of the auction, only the names of the shortlisted players will be called out.

Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, along with veterans Dale Steyn and Angelo Mathews have the highest base price. 2 players from associate countries have also registered for the auction. Among other Australian cricketers in the top-bracket, fast bowler Kane Richardson and stalwart batter Shaun Marsh have a base price of INR 1.5 crore. Joe Root is a notable name missing.

Starc, however, will be turning out for the Welsh Fire, who drafted him in at Dollars 160,000 approx for the inaugural edition of the Hundred, set o take place next year. However, he found no takers.
