Bloomberg noted that the crime and murder rate in NY declined during his tenure, but acknowledged the unintended consequences his policy had on the city's minority population.

Trump blacklists Bloomberg News from covering campaign over bias for billionaire Democrat boss President Donald Trump's re-election campaign has barred Bloomberg News from covering rallies and events, citing the outlet's overt bias for their boss, a billionaire seeking the Democrat presidential nomination.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Michael Bloomberg expressed regret on Tuesday for the impact his hard-line policing tactics had on minorities during his time as New York City mayor and pledged during a meeting with advocates of reform to focus on criminal justice if elected president. The hands-off investigation policy was extended to the rest of the Democratic field but not to the president's reelection campaign.Trump campaign officials, who have been weighing how to respond for the past week, called it a bias decision."Since they have declared their bias openly, the Trump campaign will no longer credential representatives of Bloomberg News for rallies or other campaign events". "As President Trump's campaign, we are accustomed to unfair reporting practices, but most news organizations don't announce their biases so publicly".

Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait said the accusation of bias couldn't be further from the truth.

Parscale said their new rule will be rescinded when Bloomberg News changes its policy.

The Trump campaign's action illustrates the hard position Bloomberg's candidacy has imposed on the news organization.

Dean Baquet, executive editor of The New York Times, also criticized the Trump campaign's move.

Michael Bloomberg's decision to seek the Democratic presidential nomination prompted the news agency, one of the world's biggest, to spell out guidelines last week on how it would handle any conflicts of interest.

The campaign will decide whether to deal with individual reporters and will answer inquiries on a case-by-case basis, Parscale added.

In a memo sent to staff members following Bloomberg's announcement, Micklethwait said he would continue the organization's policy of not investigating Bloomberg, his family or his foundation, and "will extend the same policy to his rivals in the Democratic primaries".
