Watford place Hayden Mullins in temporary charge after Quique Sanchez Flores sacking

Sanchez Flores returned for a second spell at the club when he replaced Javi Gracia in September but was dismissed after Saturday's defeat by Southampton.

Their only Premier League win this season came second bottom club Norwich City on November 8 and they have lost both of their games - against Burnley and the Saints - since.

Watford Under-23 coach Hayden Mullins and head of academy goalkeeping Graham Stack will oversee training on Monday morning at Watford ahead of their game at Leicester on Wednesday.

Watford only managed to win one game under Sanchez Flores and now sit bottom of the Premier League table, three points behind Norwich City and six points off safety.

As reported by the Daily Mail, players at the Hertfordshire club are frustrated by the nearly constant managerial turnover over the past decade.

However, Watford only have a limited number of options as they would rather appoint a coach that is now out of work to avoid paying compensations to clubs to replace Sanchez Flores. The report adds they want the next man in the role to have "high motivational skills".

"The appointment of a new head coach is imminent, and with almost two-thirds of the season remaining, we will provide all the support necessary to make the coming months successful".

Former Watford goalkeeper Richard Lee gives his verdict on Quique Sanchez Flores" sacking, admitting the club now need a "new manager bounce'.

"It's sad because if I can help the team I suffer, I suffer for the fans, I suffer for the players and I suffer for the owner of course", he told reporters after Saturday's defeat.

The 54-year-old former Atletico Madrid manager added: "This is the way I choose". I can't regret for that.

"The worst thing for a coach is when you can't feel that you have the full control of the situation and when the team is at the bottom you don't".
