A senior British diplomat in Washington has resigned from her position, saying she is no longer prepared to "peddle half-truths" about Brexit on behalf of a Government she does not trust.

Britons head to the polls on December 12 for an election which is able to resolve the destiny of Britain's exit from the European Union.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson's Conservatives have said they will deliver Brexit by the end of January, while the opposition Labour Party, who are trailing in the polls, plans to renegotiate the exit deal and put it to another referendum.

Citing a duplicate of her resignation letter, dated December 3, CNN reported Alexandra Corridor Corridor, who had been Brexit Counsellor within the British embassy in Washington since 2018, stated her place had turn out to be "insufferable personally, and untenable professionally".

"I am increasingly dismayed by the way our political leaders have tried to deliver Brexit, reluctantly to honestly address, even with our own citizens, the challenges and trade-offs that Brexit implies; the use of misleading or misleading arguments about the implications of the various options before us; and some behavior towards our institutions, which, if it happened in another country, would nearly certainly do, because the diplomats were given instructions to express our concerns, "she said".

"It makes our job to advertise democracy and the rule of legislation that a lot tougher, if we're not seen to be upholding these core values at residence".

Hall Hall, 55, is a 33-year veteran of Britain's foreign service and a former British ambassador to Georgia.

"I am also at a stage in life where I would prefer to do something more rewarding with my time, than peddle half-truths on behalf of a government I do not trust", she wrote.

A senior British diplomat in the U.S. has give up over Brexit with a blast at Boris Johnson and different "political leaders" only a week earlier than the election, it was revealed as we speak.

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said: "We will not comment on the details of the resignation of an individual".

CNN stated Corridor Corridor's position concerned explaining Britain's strategy to Brexit to US politicians and that she felt her diplomatic position had been co-opted to ship messages that had been "neither absolutely trustworthy nor politically neutral".

It said she had filed a formal complaint about being asked to convey overtly partisan language on Brexit in Washington.
