Another suspected case of the coronavirus is being reported in Texas.

The Waco-McLennan County Public Health District is now monitoring a suspected case of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) involving a Baylor University student who traveled to China this year.

The virus, which was first discovered in the city of Wuhan in December, has spread to every province in China, except the remote autonomous regions of Qinghai and Tibet, with the number of infections rising to more than 900 worldwide.

Once the results return from Atlanta where testing is now being done, additional details about the student's travels, including other cities and possible points of exposure, will be released if the virus is confirmed.

Health officials are awaiting results. "The Health District is already working with Baylor University, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Center for Disease Control and our local health care providers to take immediate action according to the best practices outlined by the CDC and to provide a coordinated response".

The Baylor student has been moved to an isolated room on the Waco campus, the school said in a statement issued Friday afternoon. The patient was said to be "doing well with minimal symptoms".

Students who have questions or concerns can contact Baylor Health Services at 254-710-1010 or Health_Services@baylor.edu. "An informational call center has also been created at 888-283-2158 for students & parents with additional questions or concerns".

Baylor University is working with the patient to ensure that needs are being met during this self-isolation.

Waco health officials are working to identify all who may have come in contact with the student. The C-D-C is testing his samples. Two cases have been confirmed in the United States.

The Coronavirus sickened hundreds of people in Wuhan, China before spreading to other cities in Asia and overseas.
