One Oscar victor honored another on the red carpet Sunday as Spike Lee donned a custom outfit that paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant.

The Oscar-winning director accessorized the purple suit with a white shirt dress, a grosgrain bow tie with matching purple hat and glasses. Kobe Bryant, who is expected to be part of the Academy's "In Memoriam" segment, is also an Oscar victor.

Lee took time to speak with red carpet host Ryan Seacrest about the death of his friend and collaborator.

The first professional athlete to do so, Bryant himself won an Academy Award in 2018 when his film "Dear Basketball" won Best Animated Short Film at the Oscars.

"Da Lee's are in DA House", he captioned the photo accompanied by three purple hearts. His look was inspired by the life and works of Kobe.

Although Kobe is known for his basketball legacy, the Los Angeles Lakers alum became the first ever black person to win "Best Animated Short".

The animated short, narrated by Bryant and directed and animated by Glen Keane, focused on the letter Bryant wrote for The Players' Tribune in November 2015 in which he announced his retirement.

While film and fashion have always gone hand in hand, tonight's red carpet at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards is proving that there's also plenty of room for sport too.

Good stuff here, Mr. Lee. "I'm glad we do a little bit more than that". "So you can see the growth, you can see the love".
