A cruise ship in Sydney is in lockdown while a man is being tested for coronavirus.

Norwegian Cruise Line is denying reports that someone on board the Norwegian Jewel has tested positive for Covid-19 coronavirus.

The Australian reported the man was being tested as a precaution and had not yet been confirmed to have coronavirus, but the ship's owner Norwegian Cruise Line dismissed the report and others made by Australian media. "The vessel remains in operation, and all guests on board are in good health", a spokesperson said. "There is absolutely no truth to those stories". During Norwegian Jewel's sailing from Auckland to Sydney, a few guests on board experienced a stomach-related illness.

The cruise ship was last in New Zealand in February 10 at Port Chalmers near Dunedin. None of the passengers had been in China in the previous 14 days and there was no outbreak of any disease on board, officials added.
