President Donald Trump will attend the 62th running of the Daytona 500, NASCAR and the White House confirmed Thursday.

"Daytona International Speedway has been privileged to have hosted several sitting Presidents of the United States over our history", Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile said in a statement.

Denny Hamlin won the 61st annual Daytona 500 a year ago. George W. Bush attended the Daytona 500 in 2004.

"We are planning and preparing as if the president and the first lady and the governor are coming".

NASCAR Cup Series champion Joey Lagano gifts President Trump a racing helmet and called the visit to the White House 'amazing'.

Air Force One will land at Daytona Beach International Airport, which is adjacent to the track.

The U.S. Secret Service, the agency responsible for the president's security, also tweeted out that there will be a "No Drone Zone" in place during the race. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will be in the pole position.
