Pete Buttigieg addressing crowd at New Hampshire primary

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that Bloomberg, the former New York City mayor who is rising in national polls, had said in a 2008 forum hosted by Georgetown University that the mortgage meltdown that triggered the financial crisis began when banks stopped discriminating against minorities and the poor whose neighborhoods were outlined in red on maps.

The latest poll confirms Sanders's status as the front-runner in the race for the Democratic nomination.

Biden suggested he would challenge Bloomberg on the matter and on Bloomberg's past support for a policing strategy known as "stop and frisk" that Bloomberg employed as mayor and which ensnared disproportionate numbers of blacks and Latinos. Her campaign got a burst of energy from a surprise third-place finish in New Hampshire and inched up 2 points in the survey. Many Warren supporters said Thursday they weren't phased by her performances in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Bloomberg drew crowds of hundreds in North Carolina, one of the states that vote on Super Tuesday, where he will first appear as a declared candidate.

Quentin McHoes, a 22-year-old college student from Wyoming, said he expected Warren to perform the way she did in the first two contests based on the demographics of the states.

Biden acknowledged coming up short in Iowa and New Hampshire but emphasized that 98 percent of voters had yet to weigh in - including, black voters in more diverse states who have consistently supported Biden in opinion polls.

"I just feel like he might be able to beat Trump", she said. "I am completely solid in my faith in her still". Even after Warren's performances in the first two contests, she is not disheartened.

"Obviously fourth and fifth place isn't where you want to be", said Virginia Rep. Bobby Scott, who has not endorsed in the primary. The following photographs depict the final moments in the race for New Hampshire. Despite calling herself "a Warren supporter", Purcell said she was still undecided on who she would vote for.
