The photographer behind a popular image of mice squabbling on a London Underground platform has revealed how he captured the shot after being inspired by a text message from a drunk friend.

This striking image of mice scrapping in a subway tunnel has won His image, Station Squabble, is the recipient of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year LUMIX People's Choice Award.

That image placed the photographer on a short list of 25 images out of 48,000 submissions to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

The image, along with a handful of highly commended snaps, highlights the tensions and intricacies between humans and wildlife.

Since those winners were announced the general public has been voting on a People's Choice favorite from 25 shortlisted images.

"Francis found this composition of white arctic reindeer, which were observing him, both curious and charming", WPY said.

"This image reminds us that while we may wander past it every day, humans are inherently intertwined with the nature that is on our doorstep".

Lebanese photographer Michel Zoghzoghi's incredible shot, "Matching outfits" was snapped one afternoon in Pantanal, Brazil. A mother leopard and her cub simultaneously attack an anaconda with a similar camouflage pattern as their own.

The photography contest, which is run by the Natural History Museum, was won by Tibetan Yongqing Bao, who took a striking photo of the battle between a Tibetan fox and a marmot in a remote mountainous region of China. There was a heart-rending snap of an exploited "boxing" orangutan, one of a jaguar and her cub with a captive anaconda, a ranger and the baby rhino he protects and a group of arctic reindeer nearly vanishing in the snow. The fifty-sixth competition is now being judged by an esteemed panel of experts, and the winners will be revealed in October 2020.

This touching shot of an orphaned baby black rhino looking at ranger Elias Mugambi was captured at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya.
